Kula Vyema Centre

Overview

This study, contracted to Kula Vyema Centre by the World Bank’s Africa Gender Innovation Lab (GIL) involved undertaking a survey of households and individuals to test three new agency measurement tools as part of the MAGNET portfolio. MAGNET initiative is a collaboration between the World Bank’s Africa Gender Innovation Lab and LSMS teams, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and Oxford University. MAGNET aims to broaden and deepen the measurement of important dimensions of women’s agency for which the body of existing methods is weak or under-tested. A set of three tools focusing on water collection and usage were tested in Kilifi County in a survey comprising 630 households, and all adults in those households resulting to 2,500 individual interviews. Data were collected electronically in CAPI using SurveyCTO.
