This study, awarded to Kula Vyema Centre by the IDRC (International Development Research Centre), seeks to document initiatives, programs or projects that are contributing to increasing affordability and availability of healthy and/or sustainable food or diets in Eastern Africa; document organizations and persons involved in this kind of work; and identify research and capacity needs of these organizations. The results of the study will feed into the initial phase of a five-year partnership by the IDRC and the Rockefeller Foundation ‘Catalyzing Change for Healthy and Sustainable Food Systems’. Data collection was through various means including an online survey, key informant interviews, literature review and online search.
