This impact evaluation study, implemented by RTI International with Kula Vyema Centre as the local partner, aims to assess the effectiveness of GAIN’s Vegetables for All program in increasing the quantity of vegetables consumed and improving the diet quality of bottom-of-pyramid (BoP)
consumers in Kenya, as well as undertaking a process evaluation of the program impact pathway analysis to support findings of the impact evaluation. The study will use a mixed-methods quasi-experimental design with intervention and control areas in 5 counties in Kenya (Nairobi, Nakuru, Kiambu, Machakos, Mombasa), and the impacts will be assessed through cross-sectional population-based quantitative surveys of households; quantitative retailer (vendor) surveys, and collection of qualitative data from various actors. A baseline survey of 1,400 households and 400 vendors has already been undertaken as part of the project.
